More severe filtering

Hello all!We have been quite concerned about the quality of the posts these last few weeks. Pictures of a squid dragged on land, a crocodile sitting in shallow water, sounds of underwater stuff etc. These kind of posts are not relevant in this subreddit. To go against almost everything I have ever been taught, I'll quote Wikipedia: Thalassophobia can include fear of being in large bodies of water, fear of the vast emptiness of the sea, and fear of distance from land. Thalassophobes may also be afraid of encountering sea creatures rather than the sea itself. This is what the subreddit is about, with that last sentence being allowed as well, but only under certain conditions. What are these conditions? When we think of this type of fear, we see it as a consequence of swimming/floating in a large body of water and with an unknown amount of depth beneath you (because what can lurk down there with this vastness?). So in other words, if a post contains a sea creature, it must also contain the feeling of that vastness. To illustrate this simply Google image search "Thalassophobia" and look at the top few hits. In these pictures the focus isn't only on the creature, but on the big ocean surrounding you as well. Because it's not about fearing the creature ("look how scary he looks") but about the possibility of encountering one (I know, it all sounds a bit vague). For example, these are some DON'TS:http://ift.tt/1nperNw scary creatures, visit /r/thedepthsbelow or /r/imaginaryleviathans.To counter this, we the mods, will filter the posts more severely. This means: instant removal of your post.Of course the idea of thalassophobia is quite subjective, so not every post will trigger you. Simply ignore these posts and only downvote/report them if they are truly (borderline) irrelevant! We hope that you can understand, and that the content of this subreddit can stay relevant! Also, to those who are here because they find the content simply beautiful or plain cool: You are all welcome! This subreddit is for everyone, but please don't influence the submissions too much based on whether you find it cool or pretty. That's is not how they should be judged. And remember: Stay kind and keep enjoying the subreddit!
