My personal experience falling into the open sea, and how close I came to death

5 years ago I was on a family vacation to Penang of Malaysia. We were at a beach where there were jet skis, surfing and parasailing. The beach was surprisingly vacant(we later found out why), and the few locals who worked there were more than happy to see us. After 2 hours of swimming and parasailing, I got on a banana float with my bro and aunt, and a jet ski toiled us out to the open sea.To my left, the people on the beach were little more than dots; to my right, there was nothing but endless ocean. Though we all had floats, I felt nervous as it was a 30 min swim or more back(and I'm a pretty darn good swimmer). As the jet ski made a sharp turn, the entire float twisted sharply and hurled us into the water. The jet ski guy told us not to panic as he struggled to right the float. My aunt freaked out, and began to grab at me, inadvertently pushing me under. "Aunt, relax! Relax!" I struggled to shout as my head went under again and again, but she was near hysterical. My bro and I had to hold her at arms length, else she really might drown me. At this point, I felt this prickling all over my legs, and fear seized me.Jellyfish.Thank the gods the float was re-orientated, and we scrambled back up. Without a second word, the jet ski pulled us right back to shore. And now I saw the red lines all over my legs. I was lucky, for this were non-lethal stings. I didn't feel like going into the water again of course.10 mins later, I heard a shriek as the beach as my cousin began to thrash in what was merely knee-deep water. At once, a local charged towards him(he already knew what was happening), and using a hand full of sand, he pulled a jellyfish from my cousin's hand and flung it back into the sea. By now, my cousin was convulsing, and we also now understood the significance of the ambulance parked next to the tourism center. He was sent to the hospital, and his condition stabilized, but his hand was permanently scarred, and they had to fly him back home for treatment.I count my lucky stars I did not get stung by the same species which attacked him, or I wouldn't be typing this.
