Boss fight from the game "Shadow of the Colossus". Truly anxiety inducing, especially from a PS2 game!

What is scarier, A self aware Leviathan/Cthulu, or one as smart as your average squid.

Personally, the dumb as a rock Cthulu would be more terrifying. I imagine it would destroy without purpose while at least a self aware Leviathan might accept some sacrifice or something. Or mercilessly engulf me in his watery depths for disturbing his slumber, whichever.

Shock and awe... shit

Is this fear triggered by outer space?

I often find myself thinking of the horror of being out in free space, drifting slowly away from my spacecraft. I don't know if it's how little is required for total isolation out there or if it's just the immenseness of it. The stars help, or so I've heard from astronauts. But when they put their sunvisors down, all the starlight is filtered out, leaving only black.

This terrifying photo from a Vice filmmaker's Instagram page.

Thalassophobia content

For all the talk of posts that focus on thalassophobia (fear of the vast emptiness of the sea), it rarely seems to happen that the content fits the sub. More sea monsters than anything. Am I wrong?
