[Meta] State of the Subreddit, Sidebar, Hall of Fame, Etc.
My, how far we've come over the years. There are now 36,000+ of us clenching in fear! That's 34,000 new additions in less than a year! Welcome everyone! With this influx, I think we need to have a discussion on the state of the subreddit.PurposeAs per the sidebar, this subreddit is for:Pictures and videos, fiction or real, related to the deep dark water that make us really uncomfortable. Please keep this in mind when submitting posts. This sub is for inducing fear in the hearts of thalassophobes with content related to the deep.I don't mean to call specific posts out or anything but recently we've been getting a lot of X-posts of Default Sub posts only tangentially related to the deep, at best. Some of these are awesome for what they are, but Not everything involving water belongs here, even if someone comments with a link to this sub.SidebarIf you want to post in this sub, please read the sidebar before doing so. Our mods are awesome and they shouldn't be saddled with extra work because people don't check to see what is allowed before posting. When it comes to reposts, there are rules in both the sidebar and the Stickied Post at the top of this sub. Reposts are allowed if it has been over three months since it has been posted and it is not in the Hall of FamePlease also make sure to post a relevant title and avoid vague things like "OMG so creepy!"Another rule that I admit to being guilty of breaking, especially over the past couple days, is not to call out reposts, just report them as such. I'll work on this.Posting mean comments or commenting on misspelled titles is also not allowed. This is a great sub and we're all here for the same reason so lets be sure to make everyone feel welcome! And please keep in mind that some people don't have great writing skills or speak English as a second language. Please try not to make anyone feel bad. Mistakes happen!Hall of FameEveryone should check that out in the sidebar! Those are some amazing posts that are pretty darn freaky! But please note, these get posted all the time. Sometimes when they get X-Posted to other subs, they end up back on here many times in one day. So check them out, bookmark them, but please don't post them as they are forbidden.OrMaybe it's time to implement a different system. Change can be a good thing. Are we still happy with the hall of fame and the current repost rules?Anything ElseIf there's anything else concerning you about the state of the sub or you have thoughts on any of the rules, please make them known. Or if you think I'm being an ass, that's ok too. I just think with such a large group it would be good to remind everyone of what we're all about and raise any concerns!

Anyone visit any of ocean related subreddits that build on peoples fears (besides what's on the side bar or dark water below?)
Thanks, there is so much of the ocean that scares be and also fascinates me at the same time. I have the same fear of water as I do of spiders - the only difference, I can't look at spiders because they are potentially a real threat to me, unlike the ocean because I live safely in the midwest :)Title Edit: of == other

Research Topic
Hello everyone, I know this is strange to post but I am writing a research paper within the lines of biology. I am in love with this sub and I wanted to know if anyone knew any interesting research topics about marine biology or anything similar. Thanks guys.
